Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch (AWSS) will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2026 with a special 70th Birthday Celebration & Auction taking place on Friday, 24 July 2026 in Stellenbosch.
The fundraising evening will commemorate seven decades of protecting and caring for vulnerable animals across Stellenbosch and surrounding communities, while raising vital funds for AWSS’s “Kennel Improvements for a Better Tomorrow” Project.
Funds raised through the event will contribute towards upgrading AWSS dog enclosures with improved weather protection to ensure greater comfort, safety and wellbeing for animals in every season.
Since 1956, AWSS has worked tirelessly to provide rescue services, veterinary care, sterilisation programmes, outreach support and responsible rehoming for animals in need. Through this work, the organisation has become an important part of the Stellenbosch community, dedicated to improving animal welfare through compassion, education and action.
Hosted by well-known media personality Amy MacIver and beloved Afrikaans entertainer Kabous Meiring, the evening will bring together supporters, partners, animal lovers and members of the wider community for a memorable night of celebration, delicious food, exceptional local wines and fundraising.
Guests can look forward to a drinks reception on arrival, a delicious three-course dinner paired with wine, live and silent auctions featuring sought-after prizes and experiences, and dancing into the evening alongside fellow supporters of animal welfare.
The event will take place at the spectacular Landtscap in Devon Vale, Stellenbosch, a beautiful venue offering sweeping 180-degree views across the Stellenbosch Winelands. AWSS extends sincere thanks to Landtscap for their generous support as the event’s exclusive venue partner.
“Reaching 70 years is an incredibly important milestone for AWSS and a reflection of the compassion and support we have received from the Stellenbosch community over many decades,” says Jessica Perrins, General Manager of AWSS.
“Every animal rescued, every treatment provided and every successful adoption has only been possible because people continue to believe in the work we do. As we celebrate this milestone, we are also looking ahead and investing in the future well-being of the animals in our care through the Kennel Improvements for a Better Tomorrow project.”
Tables of 10 are available at R8,500 incl. VAT, with individual tickets priced at R850 per person.
